Step back in time to 2004, where the small town named Rigby was about to witness something truly special. It all started with Todd Stowell’s big idea – a fundraiser at the local Chevrolet dealership to support the Senior Center’s “Meals on Wheels” program. But this wasn’t just any fundraiser; it was the birth of “Hot Classic Nights.”

Picture it: classic cars gleaming under the sun, engines revving, and the aroma of sizzling burgers filling the air. With the support of the community and even the local police, it became an unforgettable evening, drawing crowds eager to witness the spectacle. Over 50 cars rumbled in, and more than 700 spectators gathered, all rallying behind a cause close to their hearts. It was more than just a car show; it was a testament to the power of community coming together for a greater good.

The resounding success of the car show prompted the establishment of an annual tradition, ensuring continued support for the Senior Center’s fundraising endeavors. This initiative not only celebrates classic automobiles but also serves as a beacon of community solidarity in championing a noble cause.

Today, Hot Classic Nights steadfastly pursues its mission by hosting one of Idaho’s premier car shows, annually raising funds to support the Senior Center’s “Meals on Wheels” program. Over the past two decades, our event has transcended its humble origins to become a cherished community tradition, expanding in scale, diversity, and significance. What commenced as a modest gathering featuring 50 vintage cars and 700 attendees has blossomed into a magnificent showcase encompassing over 500 classics including cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles, tractors, and captivating a crowd of more than 10,000 spectators. Bolstering our offerings, the Midnight Muscle Car Club now orchestrates exhilarating 100-foot drag races, drawing participants and onlookers from near and far.

In its infancy, the car show was a grassroots endeavor, organized by Todd and a small group of dedicated volunteers with a passion for vintage automobiles. As word of the event spread, so too did its reputation, attracting an increasing number of participants eager to showcase their prized vehicles. Year after year, the show’s popularity surged, prompting organizers to expand both the venue and the range of activities offered.

With each passing milestone, the car show became not only a celebration of automotive craftsmanship but also a platform for charitable giving and community engagement. Sponsorship interest soared as businesses recognized the opportunity to align themselves with a cause that resonated deeply with the community. The influx of sponsors enabled the organizers to enhance the event’s offerings, introducing live entertainment, food vendors, and family-friendly activities.

Today, our car show stands as a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and community spirit. What began as a modest gathering has flourished into an annual extravaganza, leaving an unforgettable mark on all who participate and reaffirming our commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
